Crowd for Angels offer investors up to 12% returns in their crowd-bonds. If you’ve invested with MoneyThing, you’ll notice a popular car-finance borrower who is also listed on Crowd for Angels at the same 12% rate of return. They also offer equity shares in new companies with SEIS and EIS tax relief.

After I saw the release of their Innovative Finance ISA, I got in touch with the team for a short Q&A, but have only just got around to putting it onto P2P blog!

How did it all begin: what is the background to the platform? The Founder, Tony De Nazareth launched the platform in May 2014. Tony wanted to combined his corporate finance boutique E.C.Capital with his social media technology company NinetyTen to deliver investment opportunities to the crowd.

What makes you different from the other options? With heritage in Accounting, we set about developing a more investor-understood platform that had a nod to the stock market model. Therefore, we are the only platform with a declared share price up front, we were the first for convertible debt into companies and the first to have min and max trances.

Is there any sort of Provision Fund/ Insurance against bad debt? Unfortunately, there isn’t however all our crowd bonds are secured against assets of the company or a debenture. (no director guarantees)

Automated Investment: How easy is it for Investors to maintain their Investment? We do not have an automated investment feature on our platform.

What plans have you for the future?

We have quite a few different plans:

  • We are bringing on-board our new secondary market,
  • Launching a micro-site just for IF-ISA investors
  • A dedicated reporting and analytics system for investors
  • Expand our fund managers portal to IFA’s to manage clients
